Introduce your workmates to cycling with the Corporate Cycle Challenge

Now you've got the chance to introduce your workmates to both cycling in Manchester Velodrome and a challenging corporate ride, as there is still time to enter the corporate challenge.

Entries are now picking up for the individual sporting ride over 50 miles and endurance ride over 70 miles. It would be an ideal last ride for entrants in the following week's Etape du Tour, where equipment and level of fitness can be given a final check! The event is transponder timed, and riders' photos will be taken with stunning backdrops of the Pennines.

There is an indoor start to the ride at the Velodrome, and a ride village that will entertain family members who are not on corporate, sportif or endurance rides. There is Go-Ride activity for kids, guided leisure cycle rides for families on a safe off road route to the Fallowfield Loop line and back, and a free vintage bus shuttle service to the Manchester Museum of Transport in Cheetham Hill.

In the ride village, visitors and families will be able to meet the NSPCC, Friends of Clayton Vale, Friends of Phillips Park, Friends of Fallowfield Loop line, Impsport, Francis Transport, the Cooperative, Mancat and Manchester Museum of Transport. There will be catering outlets serving a variety of food and drink.

Ride Info

The NCC Group Cycle Challenge is your chance to show what Manchester fundraisers are really made of.

On Sunday 29th June 2008, you can help us raise more than £30,000 for the NSPCC. You have a choice of three cycling challenges to enter, either as an individual or as part of a corporate team. Each challenge will take participants from Manchester Velodrome through the impressive terrain of the Peak District, giving you the ride of your life and the opportunity to raise money for a great cause.

Sporting Challenge

A 50 mile bike ride for individuals. Entry costs £20 per person with a suggested sponsorship of £50. Riders will enjoy some car free routes out of East Manchester, straight into some quiet and undulating country lanes, to cross the M60, through Woodhouses, Park Bridge, Hartshead Pike, Mossley, Saddleworth, Greenfield, across the Pennines on the A635 Isle of Skye, down to Meltham, up to Upperthong, to reach the furthest point to rejoin the A635 at the Ford Inn, and return back using the outbound route, to the Velodrome.

Corporate Cycle Challenge

A 50 mile bike ride for teams of up to five people from businesses across the City to prove their fitness, take on the competition and raise money for a worthy cause. Entry costs £250 per team with a suggested minimum team sponsorship of £100. The Corporate challenge use the same route as the 50 mile bike ride detailed above!

Endurance Challenge

A 70 mile challenge for the more experienced cyclist. Entry costs £25 per person with a suggested  sponsorship of £50 for each entrant. Riders will enjoy some car free routes out of East Manchester, straight into some quiet and undulating country lanes, to cross the M60, through Woodhouses, Park Bridge, Hartshead Pike, Mossley, Saddleworth, Greenfield, across the Pennines on the A635 Isle of Skye, down to Meltham, up to Upperthong, then to Honley, New Mill, Holmfirth, Holme to climb to the top of Holme Moss, turn round and come back down again, to Digley Reservoir, climb up to the A635 to the Ford Inn. This is the return leg, back to the Velodrome, perhaps mixing it with the 50 mile solos and 50 Corporate Challenge teams!

You don't have to be an athlete to take part. There will be plenty going on for friends, family and supporters on the day at the Velodrome Cycle Challenge Village, where you can shop, talk to cycling experts, take part in kids activities and greet the participants on their return.

The NSPCC aims to protect children from cruelty, support vulnerable families, campaigns for changes to the law and raise awareness about abuse. It is responsible for 177 community-based projects and runs the Child Protection Helpline and ChildLine in the UK and the Channel Islands
